Nuclear Medicine Training – Disposing of Used Products

After the Nuclear Medicine clinics, there will be some tidy-up of used products and waste containers.

This can be managed on the Nuclear Medicine – Dispose of Old Compounds screen.

The screen shows a list of all products in the area, each with the decay and usage corrected activity and quantity, percentage remaining as activity and quantity, location and expiry date.

From this screen, you can dispose of items or move them into decay storage.

Dispose of Remaining

Use this option to dispose of the contents of a pot and/or the whole pot.

Select the required disposal route and waste reference (if a container is selected), and enter the percentage of the remaining pot being disposed of. This would typically be 100% into a sharps bin.

There is also the Multi-Dispose to Container option to do this in bulk for several items.

Move This Compound

Use this option to move a pot/product into another storage location. This is generally used when a hot product is moved out of the dosing area and into temporary storage so that it can decay enough to be disposed of in the future.

Select the new location and store that the item is being moved to. The Recent Moves button will pre-fill the details from a previous move and is useful for repeating the same process regularly.

There is also the Move multiple items option to do this in bulk for several items.
