Nuclear Medicine Training – Radiopharmacy Requests

The first step required before radiopharmaceuticals are used within Nuclear Medicine is to add the requests for them. This will usually be done the day before for Tc99m products and in plenty of time for ordering externally supplied items.

These are recorded in the Nuclear Medicine / Radiopharmacy requests option.

You can read more details on these in Radiopharmacy Requests.

Adding multi-dose requirements

Multi-dose products can be added through either of

  • Enter a pot request – can be described as a number of doses and/or approximate activity
  • Enter a multi-dose pot – times and numbers of investigations are used to calculate the activity required

Enter a pot request

Fill in the details of the required product. You will need to select from the pre-configure ARSAC investigation.

The required activity can be entered manually, or you can enter the number of doses you require. Where a standard activity is always supplied, you can leave both fields blank.

You can provide further details through the comments option, e.g. high/low concentration etc.

Enter a multi-dose request

Pick the required date (usually tomorrow, e.g. 08:30) using the […] button.

Click Add doses to add a set of dose times for an investigation.

Click each time required, or enter the number of doses beside the time. You can enter zero if you clicked a time by mistake.

After clicking ok, IsoStock will display the minimum activity to give the exact activities at the exact time. You can click the Use + x% option to use this and add that percentage.

Adding single-dose requirements

You can also add single doses needed for individual patients.

Click the Enter a single dose request option.

Select the required date/time and investigation.

Select the product type on the left side and enter the patient details where required.
