Nuclear Medicine Training – Generators

IsoStock can record and track Generators, along with eluates taken from them.

Ordering generators

Orders for Generators can be managed on the Radiopharmacy/Planning – external orders page.

Click the Create a new request and fill in the details.

You should be able to select the generator using the Catalogue code drop-down list, which will pre-fill the supplier, name, nuclide, activity and quantity.

Add the correct reference date and time, along with the expected date and time of delivery. IsoStock will calculate the activity on delivery.

After clicking OK, IsoStock will allocate a unique reference code.

Receiving generators

Any ordered generators can be received in the Nuclear Medicine – Receive items or Radiopharmacy – Radioactive stock items screen. Both screens have similar options, but the focus differs if you have a configured Radiopharmacy department.

Find the generator order, shown in green (stock order) and select Receive this request from the side menu.

Complete the details of the generator, and add any batch numbers and the intended location/store.

Recording eluates

This description is for recording the remaining eluate, where Radiopharmacy is not using IsoStock to track the movement of radioactivity through production.

IsoStock can record the elution of a generator and link the eluates to the generator they came from.

This is managed in the Radiopharmacy – Generators screen.

The top part of the screen shows any generators on site. Highlighting a generator will show details of the elutions taken from this generator at the bottom of the screen.

Click Generate/elution and click Elute without plan.

IsoStock will calculate the yield of the generator with the expected activity in the eluate. This can be ignored, and the remaining activity and quantity can be recorded.
