- From the main menu, select Compounds and then Compound Details.
The Compound Details screen is displayed. By default, this shows the details of the last accessed compound. The default can be changed using Personal – Personal Settings.
On the left-hand side of the screen, there is a box labelled Search For Reference.
- Enter the unique reference code of the compound being disposed of (or select it from the pull-down list if it has been used before).
This will display the details of the compound.
- Select Dispose of This Compound from the menu on the left-hand side of the screen.
A blank Dispose of Compound ABC123 screen will be displayed, which needs to be completed.
If you had highlighted a compound that had sub-samples, you would first need to choose between disposing of the stock or the sub-sample.
- Enter the date and time the disposal was made.
- Select the user who made the disposal – this will default to the current user.
You can then select up to 5 methods of disposal. You do not have to enter all 5.
- Select a disposal route – this could be a direct route (where the waste leaves immediately) such as a drain or fume cupboard, or a type of waste container in use on your site.
- If you select a waste container, you will be given a second choice of Waste Reference. Select the container that you placed the waste in, or select New if you started a new one of the type specified. The details of the waste container can be edited when selecting the Det button. For new waste containers, it may be necessary to provide certain details
You can then enter either:
- Quantity disposed relative to the original quantity.
- Activity being disposed decay corrected to the date and time entered.
- Percentage of the compound being disposed of. Note that the percentage is always relative to the original stock, not what is currently remaining.
Entering one of these values will automatically calculate the other two.
- You can optionally enter a single line note to be recorded with the disposal.
Clicking OK will confirm the details and reduce the stock appropriately. If you have created any new container(s) you will be given reference codes that must be attached to these container(s).
The system will automatically check all the disposal and accumulation limits relevant to the disposal and present you with warnings where appropriate.
Variations – this entry can be performed by selecting Dispose of Compound directly from the Compounds menu. If this method is used the compound searching/selection is done from the same screen.
